Butler's Old Key West Bar & Grill - So I inquired about my soup- and was told it would be right out.
This is a small bar and grill. We were looking for inside seating since so many of the restaurants along Central are really into the outdoor concept. We had a booth. Our server, David was new, but okay. The music was really loud... I had the smoked bar-b-q with onion rings and a nice, very fresh dinner salad. Lynn ordered chicken tenders, but got fried chicken which she thought was okay. Our friends ordered Salmon, but it was not available. The restaurant was pretty busy by the time that we left and the music was louder. We probably won't return to this restaurant. I already loved this place for its eclectic music nights especiallt Tuesday nights.... Haily our server was very accomodating and my friend adored her quesadilla... There was only one other couple in the place for lunch that day during the week. The service and food was as expected, nothing more. The venue; less than expected. The menu has many choices, we had the grilled cheese and a chicken philly. There are 4 - 5 different seating options in OKW. The dining room, the bar, the porch, the patio, etc. OKW is well located and actually has a few dedicated parking spaces in the wrap-around lot. I think we will return during cocktail hour to get the vibe of the place. Shave four hundred miles off your Conch Republic Key West sojourn with Butler's. Definitely not a place to go if you want to enjoy dinner and talk. Can't hear yourself think. We were there on trivia night - big mistake. Service was so-so and the food was reasonably priced, but not very tasty. If you want loud music, trivia games and sports - this is the place for you! Went on a quiet Sunday, sat at the bar for quick service. Got my drink fast- but too long just to place an order. Since I was in a hurry, thought I would make it easy: a bowl of their soup of the day- seafood bisque and one of their stock side of mac and cheese. And then the wait began; including just getting sweetener for my tea. Everyone around me was getting served. Then I was advised they were out of pasta for the mac and cheese- odd since this is a standard size. So I inquired about my soup- and was told it would be right out. Well it was like waiting for Hailey's comet! I finally inquired where was the soup of the day- and this is where the experience became a total joke! The waiter responded that they make EACH BOWL FROM SCRATCH!!!! What kitchen makes each bowl of seafood bisque from scratch. I gave up- left and went to Punky's nearby with 10 minutes left on my lunch, where I enjoyed tomato basil soup and their mac and cheese of the day! Once I recommended this place but now after such poor service and ridiculous excuses, Old Key West is off my list.
